# Burn rate

A single month tells you very little, because one big payment can double it. The skill averages your real outflows over a trailing window, tells you which months it used, and says how many of them actually carried spend, so you can see whether the average means anything.

### What's our burn rate?

€380K a month, averaged over Apr, May and Jun. Each of those months carried real spend, so the window is not padded with quiet ones. The monthly figures were €372K, €397K and €371K.

## How the skill answers

Every step of the run, in order, with the card each one returns. A step that hands its work to another skill says which one.

### What's driving this

## Frequently asked questions

### Why average instead of last month?

Because one annual invoice or a delayed payroll run can double or halve a single month. The average over a window is the figure you can plan against.

### Can I change the window?

Yes. Ask for a different number of months and the skill recomputes, and it always states the window it used.

### What if a month had no spend?

The skill reports how much of the window actually carried spend. An average over a mostly empty window is flagged rather than presented as fact.
